🌵 Cultivar Corner — Owner Story
Cultivar Corner was founded by a rare cactus collector from San Diego, California, someone who didn’t just fall into the hobby — he built his entire world around it. What started as a few seedlings quickly grew into a full backyard operation, complete with a custom-built shade house framed from 2×4s, wrapped in clear polycarbonate, and covered with 20% shade cloth to create the perfect microclimate for slow-grown desert species.
Inside that shaded oasis lives a curated collection of Mexican and South American cactus, including Ariocarpus, Lophophora, San Pedro, and our personal obsession: Copiapoa.
Every plant is grown with intention.
Every seedling is tracked, tagged, cataloged, and cared for like a treasure.
Among our most prized batches are the Copiapoa seedlings grown from Mesa Garden field-collected seed (KK numbers) and other trusted sources. These aren’t the mass-produced, greenhouse-rushed plants you see everywhere — these are true collector-grade specimens, grown slow, the right way, and documented from day one.
As our collection grew, so did the requests from fellow collectors looking for “the good stuff” — the hard-to-find species, the well-grown seedlings, the plants you simply don’t see in big-box nurseries.
